4. Help
Playing the Videos
The videos for the Domestic Violence Virtual Trial
are designed to be viewed using the version RealOne Player. It is highly
recommended that you use RealOne Player when playing the videos over the
Internet. Trying to play these videos over the Internet with versions
of RealPlayer earlier than RealOne Player do not work very well. You must
have IE 5.0 or newer installed in order to install RealOne Player.
Shortcut to Windows Explorer:
1. Right-click on Start button.
2. Left-click on "Explore." |
Problem:
No Video
If you are unable to view the video, then probably
you don't have the correct plug-in. You will need to download and install
this plug-in.
How
to Download & Install the RealOne Plug-In from the Internet:
1. If you are running Windows 95 or better,
2. Look for
and click on it.
3. Then look for "Download the Free RealOne Player." (Yes,
it is redundant - but necessary.)
(Note to NM State Court Employees: If you get an error message it is
possible that the site coordinator may need to log on to your computer
using the site coordinator username and password.)
4. A "Save To" dialog box will pop up. You just need to choose
a location on your computer where you will store the install file. (The
plug-in file name will already be filled in.)
5. Click OK. A download display will appear and the file will begin
to download automatically.
6. When the file has completed downloading, click on the "Show
File Location" button.
7. Windows Explorer will pop up with the correct install file highlighted.
Double-click this file. RealOne Player will now install.
8. An installation wizard will guide you through the process (keep default
selections). The install should take just a few minutes. Keep defaults,
then click finish.
9. You will need to restart your computer.
Problem:
No Sound
If you don't have sound, you either need to adjust the volume or it is
possible that your computer does not have sound capability.
1. First make sure your speakers or headphones are
on.
2. Now check the volume. There are two main places to check: in the
RealPlayer window and on the right-hand side your Start bar.
- In the RealPlayer window the volume control is
a slider located on the lower right side. There is also a Mute button
that should NOT be activated. Look at both.
- On your Start bar, look at the lower right part
of the bar, called the tray. You will see a speaker or megaphone icon
there. Click on it and adjust the volume using the slider. If you
don't see the icon, your sound hardware may have been disabled.
5.
Problems with PDFs (Acrobat files)
If you are having problems displaying the PDFs
(Acrobat files), make sure you have Adobe Acrobat Reader version 6.0.
If the document will not open, you may have an old version of Acrobat
Reade. Try downloading and installing the version 6.0 plug-in above. Make
sure to uninstall any old versions of Acrobat first!
